You may well know already what I think about Baltimore's Stan Robinson but I'll tell you anyway. the man's fucking Substantial. Resilient, produced by Eric Lau had already been one of my favourites from the 2012 Home Is Where The Art Is album, but Seattle producer and the other half of Bop Alloy Marcus D jazzed it up a lil and took it on another level. shit is beautiful. download it free off of the awesome Mello Music Group's bandcamp page and enjoy!

one of my favourite cuts (prod. algorythm) off one of my favourite albums by one of my favourite rappers gets one of my favourite videos of the year. the year's write up on my mind and it's a scary monster.. 2012 has been long long n eventful and my mind has been off music not at all. can't see it happening - last year's one is still a half-posted draft but if it does DMV's Stanley Robinson's in it. in case it doesn't ima jus say been a long eventful while since he came here to whip ass n chew bubble gum and well done the dude who's given him the name. the man's substantial no doubt in what he does as well as says. mhm. another member of my favourite world-changing fam nahmean. and here's one that showcses it nicely: 'more of a musical documentary than a music video' about the city of Baltimore grim, devastated, crime ridden and full of hope, creativity, good people and a school-teaching, community-building, youth project-funding conscious rapper.

yo what I hear is what you say, what I see when I see you these days baby is lack of locks.... just kidding (notreally).

I haven't yet gotten over the yes, excellent Joe and Insanate’s Excellent LP that came out in April (though I only discovered it a couple of months ago) meanwhile The Other Album is out and it's no disappointment no sir. The Other Guys, two cousins from DC, producer Joseph “Mighty Joe” Myles  and emcee Isaiah "Insanate" Mensah, apparently call what they do 'alternative hip hop weirdo soul’. don't know about weirdo, doesn't sound weird to me but it sure is different and it sure is good good. soulful and jazzy with contributions from local jazzmen Tony Washington, Peter Lewis, James Morris and Mighty Joe himself on the piano and with some tight intelligent lyrics, the album's one of the best things around n a free download too. don't sleep on this one people shit is beautiful

also they team up with one of my favourite rappers a fellow DMC dweller Substantial on this one. nice




also also check out P.SO' s So Enormous produced by The Other Guys off his new modestly titled upcomng album Gateway to Greatness. we'll see about that soon. I'm not a huge fan of the strings on this one I have to say. then again I'm not a huge fan of strings period.
